Annual Golf Outing & Scholarship Fundraiser
The Pearls of Excellence Foundation’s signature fundraiser is its golf outing, which helps us award college scholarships to Greater Lansing area high school seniors. This outing includes a 9-hole or 18-hole golf scramble, special hole events, prizes, and lunch or dinner. Beginners are welcomed to participate in a golf clinic to be introduced to basic elements of golf and have an option to participate in the 9-hole or 18-hole golf scramble.
I-C-Love Project
The Pearls of Excellence Foundation’s signature community service project is entitled I-C-Love. The I-C-Love Project allows the foundation to address and meet the various needs in Greater Lansing. Each year the foundation will identify a need in our community to support. This support can come in the form of a monetary donation, a donation of goods and/or services, or active community service/volunteerism. The Pearls of Excellence Foundation looks forward to partnering with local agencies and organizations to meet the needs of those in our community.
Senior Salute and Scholarship Celebration
Held yearly in conjunction with the Delta Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, the Senior Salute and Scholarship event serves as an opportunity to recognize the academic accomplishments of African American High School Seniors in the Greater Lansing area and introduce the scholarship recipients to the community. The event has provided over $200,000 in college scholarships to deserving seniors. Many notable professionals within the Greater Lansing area have been Senior Salute participants and scholarship recipients.
Gourmet Gents
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gourmet Gents was a wonderful occasion held annually where attendees networked and sampled tasty culinary dishes prepared by notable male leaders (known as our Gourmet Gents) in the Greater Lansing community. When the in-person event resumed in 2022 it was re-imagined to feature gentlemen in our community who will serve as ambassadors for the Delta Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® The proceeds from this event benefit college scholarships awarded to Lansing area high school seniors and community programs.
HBCU Fundraiser
The Pearls of Excellence Foundation and the Delta Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® address the need and importance of Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs) by actively raising funds for our HBCU scholarship with our annual HBCU fundraiser, and being a community sponsor for the annual HBCU College Fair hosted by Union Missionary Baptist Church in Lansing.
